RICHARD LANE’S 2025/26 ROUND UP
Central Midlands Alliance Premier Division Roundup April 4th
MIDWEEK MATCHES
Two more of the semi finalists in this season’ sBuckingham Insurance League Cup were confirmed this week. Dinnington Town and Burngreave United joining Linby Colliery in the final four. Burngreave saw off the challenge of Premier South table-toppers Graham Street Prims 3-1. Two goals up at the break, a double from Umar Mohammed and one for Abdulrahman Alghamdi saw Burngreave home, Prims’ goal coming in the last minute through Sam Morgan. There was another goal-packed cup match at Dinnington. After the twelve goal haul in the Floodlit Cup semi a couple of weeks ago, another seven on Wednesday evening ended in a 4-3 win overKinsley Boys the leaders in the Premier North. In a game of fluctuating fortunes Dinnington’s Josh Stead opened the scoring on 17 minutes, the lead holding until Brad Dockerty’s equaliser on 29. Sam Eckhardt restored the lead on 35 minutes, adding his second four minutes later. Not to be outdone James White pulled one back within two minutes, Kinsley’s Harry Mills levelling the scores four minutes into the second period. The balance of play swung back and forth until, with extra time almost certain, a left side corner was met by Jack Cully in the 92nd minute to continue the home side’s impressive Cup run. Meanwhile, in the final, long delayed, third round tie, Holbrook Sports beat Mickleover RBL 4-2. Brad Daly scored twice for Holbrook, Kevin Morrow and Josh Seacy with one apiece while Harry Atwal and Lucas Norman replied for the Legion. Holbrook will now face Staveley
In the league, Harworth Colliery won 4-0 at Staveley Reserves to keep in distant touch with the leading trio though they now trail leaders Kinsley by ten points. They led at half time thanks to Harvey Smith’s 29th minutegoal which was increased by a Corey Goodwin double around the hour and completed by Ewan Plant twenty minutes from times. Ollerton Town’s recent run of successes came to an abrupt end at the hands of a youthful SJR Worksop, the final score 3-0. The visitors played with pace and no little skill, taking the lead with a Callum Edwards goal in the 23rd minute. Joe Bean made it two five minutes into the second half, Taylor Thackery’s final minute goal the icing on the cake. A Lewis Benjamin hat trick was the backbone of FC Sunnyhill’s 5-1 defeat of Blidworth Welfare with Leonel Baushi and Courtay Steadman also on the scoresheet with Henry Eastgate getting Blidworth on the scoresheet. A goal in the final minute allowed Wirksworth Dynamo to pinch the points at Linby Colliery. The hosts led from the twelfth minute, Zack Hamilton the scorer, LucasBrough with the leveller in the second half,Owen King the hero for Wirksworth as he ran home the very late decider. It finished all square at Holbrook Park, Holbrook St Michaels and Cromford and Wirksworth Town drawing 2-2, Anri Burmeiester and Dan Kellogg’s goals for the home side cancelledout by Joe Geeson and Simon Scully.
WEEKEND MATCHES
The teams involved in the battle for the top spot in the Premier South table had differing fortunes this weekend. Borrowash Victoria had a straightforward 6-0 win under the lightsat Mickleover Reserves, the first goal not arriving until two minutes before half timewhen the home team concede an own goal. Adam Clark hit the second five minutes intoan extended amount of added time. The goals continued to flow in the second half with Josh Lee, Jay Hawksworth, Ethan Watson and Sam Allsop all figuring on the final scoresheet. Selston also had the assistance of an own goal in their meeting with Mickleover RBL. This one was more valuable than the one in the previous match as it turned out to be the only goal of the game. In contrast, leaders Graham Street Prims lost the points as they were beaten 3-0 at Wirksworth Ivanhoe, the goals coming from Lucas Brough, Ewan Sutherilland Dom Mellor. The upshot of all this is thatas it stands, Prims lead by four points from Selston who have a ten point lead over Borrowash who have three games in hand. The situation becomes complicated when you take into account the fact that some teamshave as many as twelve games to play in 28 days, their schedule from now until the end of the season including two midweek fixtures each week, no easy proposition. Also there is the possible effect if and when Mansfield Hosiery Mills record is removed which would affect every team in one way or another.Watch this space. Holbrook Sports’ winningrun was extended to six as they beat an out of sorts Melbourne Dynamo 3-2, a result which lifted them up to fourth in the table. Sports had to recover from two down, Charlie Goodwin and Jack Goodband having given Melbourne a handy lead which was overturned by a Nathan Bennett double and a goal from Dylan Muir. Holbrook St Michaels came away from Mickleover Athletic with three points thanks to a second half strike from Anri Burmeisters, the only goal of the game. The points were shared at Cromford where Bakewell Town were the visitors. Scott Rogers gave the home side a 13th minute lead which lasted until the hour mark when Bakewell became another team to benefit from a own goal, Jack Heath giving them the lead ten minutes later before Dale Hill minutes from time. There was also a draw at Blidworth where the visitors were Gresley Reserves. The match ended all square, Isaac Potter’s goal for the hosts equalled by Gresley’s Riley Greaves. FC Sunnyhill were 3-1 winners at Derby Singh Brothers, Lewis Benjamin scoring twice and Courtay Steadman once, Singh’s replying with one from Sahil Bhagawan.
There were no signs of a slip-up from any of the top four in the Camper UK Premier North division. Kinsley Boys’ 5-2 victory at AFC Phoenix was dominated by Lucas Stubbs who was responsible for four of his side’s goals. However it was Phoenix who scored first, Shahzaib Hassan with the opener in the second minute, the equaliser on 14 minutes opening Stubbs’ account for the afternoon.Jack White gave Kinsley a 29th minute lead, but again Phoenix levelled, Raul Cioboata the scorer three minutes later. Stubbs got his second straight from the kick off, this time there was no reply. The second half saw him complete his haul, the first from the penalty spot, the final one just after the hour. His achievement was matched by Brodsworth Main’s goal machine Callum Stockton in their 5-0 defeat of Glapwell, his goals came after 10,29,34 and 71 minutes, Finlay Watt winding things up in the last minute. Dinnington Town were 4-1 winners at Elite AFC, Jordan Turner and Gariel Oloko each scoring twice, afterElite had taken an early lead with a goal fromRobbie Wood scoring for Elite. Harworth Colliery also conceded first before recovering to beat Ollerton Town 3-1, Keegan Burton put Ollerton in front after 12 minutes, Daniel Boulton equalising six minutes later, Declan Heath scoring in the 26th and midway through the second half to take the points. Burngreave United got off to the best possible start in theirgame at SJR Worksop, Umar Mohammedscoring in the first minute of the match. SJR levelled with a Callum Edwards goal on 17 minutes before taking the lead in the 36th minute, Alex Boyd the scorer. The visitorswent home with a point thanks to Aymane Bargach who equalised in the 71st minute. It also finished 2-2 at Sandy Lane where Worksop Town Reserves faced Teversal. It took Callum Foster two minutes to put Teversal ahead, the follow up from Josh Psrfitt not coming until two minutes before the interval. A reversal of fortunes in the second half enabled the Tigers to snatch a point,Dylan Blagden (62) and Rhys Butterworth(72) with the goals. RHP Sports lost any realistic hope of gaining any reward from their game at Staveley Reserves after a nightmare opening nine minutes saw them three goals down , Alex Coates, Sam Davies and Charlie Bingham all scoring. Central Midlands Alliance Premier Division Roundup March 28
You had a choice this week, either heavy rain and a near gale on Tuesday or almostfreezing on Wednesday, both of which areconsidered acceptable as clubscontemplate the inevitable logjam after a soggy mid-season. The top four in the Camper UK Premier South all played, twoof them won, one drew, Selston didn’t,their match with FC Sunnyhill being abandoned after a set of mobile goals was blown over, the referee obviously not fancying the result if something heavier than the rain was falling. MelbourneDynamo drew 1-1 with Cromford&Wirksworth Town. Haydn Bennett gaveMelbourne a first half lead which was cancelled out by Matt Wilkinson in the first minute of the second. Graham Street Prims got the better of Derby Singh Brothers 2-1 thanks to goals at either end of the game. Alex Seale gave Prims the best of starts with a 5th minute penalty, Singhs levelling before half time. The winner came three minutes into added time, Jayson Kezza coming off the bench to snatch the points for the leaders. Borrowash Victoria also had a sub to thank for keeping them in the race after a 2-0 win over Mickleover Athletic, Adam Clark scoring both, the first one in the 56thminute, the second just before the final whistle. Blidworth Welfare had a night to forget, going down to a 5-0 home defeat at the hands of Mickleover RBL. The goals arrived at regular intervals from Cole Hassell (2), Dan Wood, Dean Oliver and Spencer Cook. Mickleover Reserves were involved in a high scoring match with Holbrook Sports who won by the odd goal in seven. Mickleover scored first, JackSabine putting them ahead on 15 minutes. The lead held until the 35th minute, Sam Pipes levelling, Cameron Anthony giving the visitors the lead four minutes later. Dylan Muir extended Holbrook’s advantage four minutes into the second half before a late burst of goals saw Michael Ihiedi reduce the lead on 77, Labrada Domini increasing it again three minutes later before Connor Bland got the final goal to make the last few minutesinteresting before Sports claimed the points.
Congratulations to Wirksworth Ivanhoe on winning the Derbyshire FA Divisional Cup North 1-0 against Hayfield. TomMellor with the only goal of the game
Just two Premier North matches with Rossington Main Development’s recent revival coming to an end, unsurprisingly, against a Burngreave United side who are unbeaten in sixteen games, of which fifteen have been won and one drawn. The visitors went in front on 11 minutes through Abdulrahman Asad followed by a double for Muhammad Shebani, first on the half hour and again seven minutes later. A fourth midway through the second half from Aymane Bargach made the points safe although late strikes for Lee Bradshaw and Joe Storey gave the final score a more respectable appearance for the hosts. Ollerton Town’s recent run has elevated them t.o a position of relative safety which was even safer as they made it five unbeaten with a 4-0 win against Elite AFC. They had the best possible start, Harvey Limb scoring after 6 minutes and Tom McNally getting a second three minutes later. 16 year old Harry Goddard made it three on the stroke of half time,McNally’s second capping an impressive display.
The first domestic silverware of the seasonwent to Dinnington Town who beat Staveley Reserves in the final of the Abacus Lighting Floodlit Cup 2-1, the match played at Alfreton Town. Dinnington took a 6th minute lead, Kieran Mortimer, and despite chances for both sides that was still the score at half time. The second half began equally well for the Yorkshire side who doubled their lead in the 47th minute, Sam Eckhardt the scorer. Staveley were then given a way back into the game as they were awarded a penaltyfollowing a foul in the box. The resulting kick will become a recurring nightmare for the taker as the ball was blazed yards wide. Staveley kept up the pressure and were rewarded with a 64th minute goal from sub Charlie Bingham but were repelled by a solid Dinnington defence which they just couldn’t penetrate.
WEEKEND MATCHES
It’s still neck and neck at the top of the Premier South both Graham Street Prims and Selston king maximum points. Prims travelled to Bakewell Town where they won 2-0, Jorge Knowles opening goal came as early as the third minute, Tris Elson with number two in the final minute of the first half. It was the same outcomeat Selston, whose two goal win came against Mickleover Athletic. Their goals were scored within seven minutes of each other in the first half, George Layton’s 35thminute strike followed by Jordan Black three minutes before half time. It’s becoming rather crowded behind the two leaders with the next four teams separatedby a single point. Borrowash were in cup action while Melbourne Dynamo fell to a 4-2 defeat by FC Sunnyhill who exacted a measure of revenge for earlier defeats in the Cup and League. Myles Sturges scored twice for Sunnyhill with Kaylan Andersonand Leonel Bushai also on the scoresheet, Melbourne replying with goals from Jack Griffiths and Owen Nixon. Derby Singh Brothers were 3-1 winners at Cromford & Wirksworth Town. The home side took a 25th minute lead, James Hirst the scorer. Singhs levelled the scores in the last minute of the first half, the scorer Khaleeq Shaffique, taking the points as Tyler Johal added to his growing tally in the 69thminute, and James Grewel Pollard made sure with the third after 76 minutes. Holbrook Sports joined the queue after a 3-2 defeat of Mickleover RBL Nathan Bennett, Dylan Muir and Harry Chiarella with Dan Wood and Cole Hassell finding the net for the Legion. It was a good day for Holbrook as St Michaels saw off Gresley Reserves 4-1. Josh Gregory scored twice, Dan Kellogg and Anri Burmeistersone each. Mickleover Reserves came within a whisker of a win, but had to settle for a point at Blidworth Welfare. Despite dictating play the hosts couldn’t score and were caught on the break, Edward Watts scoring right at the end of the first half. The second 45 followed a similar patternbut this time it was Henry Eastgate who rescued a point for the hosts in the 90thminute.
Shock of the day was in the Premier North where Burngreave United’s long unbeaten run, mentioned earlier, came to an unexpected end at home to Worksop Town Reserves who overturned the formbook to register a 2-1 win, Luke Abdy scoring onein each half with Umar Mohammed replying for Burngreave. Meanwhile Kinsley Boys continue to lay waste to (almost) everything in their path with one defeat in fifteen their current run. They put seven past Glapwell who weren’t helped by poor timekeeping which accidentallyextended the playing time by severaladditional minutes during which Kinsley added two goals to put them three up instead of one at the break. In the second half the goals came at regular intervals. Lucas Stubbs finished with four goals, Kyle Rose with two and Oliver Wooster with one. Brodsworth Main were 3-1 winners at AFC Phoenix. Callum Stocktonstruck in the 27th minute, Joel McCabe doubling the score five minutes into the second half. Mathew Woodward gave the home side a way back into the game but Stockton’s second finally put an end to their hopes. Harworth Colliery ‘s ambitions suffered a severe setback as they went down 2-1 at Teversal, After missing a 4th minute penalty Harworth went ahead in the 17th minute Jason Kearsley the scorer. That was as good as it got, Teversal drew level on 40 minutes, Aston Thompson the scorer before Ty Macaskill grabbed the winner in the 56th minute, ironically from the penalty spot. An excellent win for SJR Worksop who won 4-1 at Elite AFC thanks to a Callum Edwards hat trick and one from Luke Tong. AFC Bentley came from behind to grab a point at RHP Sports wholed with goals from Henry Beedham and Sol Miller but hopes of a much needed win were dashed as Jacob Ellam and Josh Kmiotek ensured the points were shared. Linby Colliery are first into the semi finalsof the Buckingham Insurance League Cup after a 2-0 defeat of Borrowash Victoria with Zach Hamilton’s 11th minute goal backed up by Charlie Tassi in the 36th.

MIDWEEK FIXTURES
All change at the top of the Camper UK Premier South where Selston reached the summit with a 6-0 hammering of Cromford & Wirksworth Town. Three goals in the space of eight minutes from Archie Hawkins, Tom Batterham andAlex Hardman went a long way towards settling the outcome, Batterham’ssecond, three minutes before the interval confirmed it. Ty Short on 64 minutes and Nicolas Hines, four minutes later, came off the bench to add the finishingtouches. Selston replaced Graham Street Prims who went down 3-1 at Mickleover Athletic who led at half time with a Jamie Laird goal. Further goals for Laird and Collins Ajayi completed a noteworthy double for the home side, Prims restricted to a goal from Sam Morgan. There were a few last minutejitters for Holbrook Sports as they completed a 3-2 win against Linby Colliery at Shaw Lane. Brad Daly opened the scoring on 26 minutes with Joziah Bennett adding a second four minutes into the second half and Billy Barnes seemingly putting the match to bed with twenty minutes left However it’s never .....( addyour choice of cliche) and the home side had a scare as Mason Moore pulled one back on 83 minutes. Two minutes later Ash Bernard reduced the deficit to one but the comeback came too late to influence the result. A wind affected match at Blidworth finished all square, an appropriate result for a close 90 minutes against an improving Bakewell Town. The home side had slightly the better of the first half after taking a first minute lead through Finn Brooks. In their turn Bakewell shaded the second period the deserved equaliser coming from Rob Littlewood twelve minutes from time. FC Sunnyhill made a quickrecovery from last week’s nightmare by beating Wirksworth Ivanhoe 2-1. Goals from Kaylan Anderson and Ethan Slater took the points with Lucas Brough replying for Ivanhoe.
Congratulations go to Melbourne Dynamo on retaining the Derbyshire FA Divisional Cup South, beating Derby Singh Brothers 3-1. Scorers were Isaac Gosling, Jack Griffiths and Tyler Withers for Melbourne.

WEEKEND GAMES
The match of the day in the north threw together Kinsley Boys and Harworth Colliery, Kinsley’s 3-1 win doing their championship prospects a fair bit of good. All three of their goals came in the first half, Kyle Rose opening theiraccount in the 14th minute, Lucas Stubbs finishing off a superb through ball from Jamie Bettison after 22 minutes before adding a third ten minutes later. That was the end of the scoring until four minutes into added time when Daniel Boulton finally got one back. Kinsley are now three points ahead of Brodsworth and five clear of Dinnington with two games in hand on both of them. Brodsworth dropped points for the second game running as they drew 2-2 with Staveley Reserves. Callum Verhees gave the hosts the lead after 34 minutes, Charlie Bingham levelling five minutes into the second half. Verheesrestored the home side’s lead almost immediately but Staveley pinched a pointtwo minutes from time, James Miller the scorer. Some of the teams who have been hovering around the wrong end of the table are showing signs of revival. Rossington Main Reserves have collected almost as many points in the last four days as they have in the rest of the season, their second win of the week comingat SJR Worksop where they won 2-1 thanks to Joe Parkin and Jack Farrah, Taylor Thackery replying for SJR. Ollerton Town look to have escaped the trap, picking up ten points from their last four games. The latest success came at AFC Phoenix, who themselves are currently on a run of ten straight defeats. Joe Wilson gave them the lead with half an hour on the clock Harvey Limb doubling the lead four minutes later before Tom McNally almost guaranteed the winon the stroke of half time. Jared Galloway pulled one back for Phoenix in the 50th minute but that was as close as they got. Lapses in concentration cost Glapwell as they went down 4-0 at Elite AFC. Bartek Chrobak got the openeron 10 minutes, Glapwell keeping them at bay until the end of the half when both Dec Richards and Robbie Wood took advantage of lapses in defence. Thesecond half followed a similar pattern the last goal of the afternoon coming in soppage time, Chrobak again the scorer. Worksop Reserves and AFC Bentley, couldn’t come up with a goal.
Friday night’s match in the Premier South boosted Linby Colliery’s goal difference as travelled to Mickleover Reserves, the final score 6-1. The match was a personal triumph for Charlie Tassi , who scored four times with Louis Fazal and Jacob Sucharewycz adding one each. Darryl Powell was Mickleover’s goalscorer. Selston reached the top of the Premier South tableinflicting a 2-0 defeat on rivals Borrowash Victoria. A goal in each half did the trick, Colt Reynolds giving them a 37th minute lead, the killer blow coming from Ty Short seven minutes from time. Melbourne Dynamo are third, completing a successful week with a 4-2 win over Gresley Rovers Reserves, a Harry Simpkins double and a goal apiece from Jack Goodband and Joe Shadboltwith Addison Smith and Stevie Savage on the scoresheet for the Moatmen. The visitors ran up a three goal lead Marcus Thiomas after 12 minutes and Sam Morgan on the half hour giving them a healthy interval lead which was extended by Tris Elson in the 56thminute. The recovery began three minutes later, Dan Wood the scorer, Sam Lowe reducing the gap to a single goal which the Legion couldn’t quite close. Bakewell Town’s revival continued with a 3-2 win against local rivals Cromford and Wirksworth Town. Jack Heath put Bakewell in front on 8 minutes, Matthew Wilkinson equalising with 15 played. Two goals in two minutes shortly after half time gave Bakewell a boost although the visitors did get another goal after an hour. Holbrook Sports went in front after 7 minutes of their home game against Blidworth Welfare which they held until Kelton Ashbyequalised two minutes after the interval. Matthew Duggan, after an hour, andBrad Daly three minutes from time, ensured Sports took the points. Derby Singh Brothers were 2-1 winners at Wirksworth Ivanhoe thanks to Troy Carty and Ricky Aletan, Lucas Brough replying for the hosts. Holbrook St Michaels capitalised on two early errors from Mickleover Athletic in the first 25 minutes, Athletic reducing the lead four minutes before half time, Clamp thumping home a cross from Laird. On 70 minutes t he sides were level, Collins putting away a spot kick following a foul on Laird. After Holbrook had been reduced to ten men , Athletic won it at the death, a succession of short passes ending in a finish from Kaelin Cole-Tonks.
This season’s Abacus Floodlit Cup had the unique situation of a senior cup competition having three reserve sides in the final four. The first one saw Appleby Frodingham involved in a match where one side scored six. Unfortunately for them it was their opponents from Staveley among the goals, winning 6-1, the goals shared
