RICHARD LANE’S 2025/26 ROUND UP

Abacus Lighting Central Midlands Alliance League Premier Division Roundup – September 13th

MIDWEEK MATCHES

A couple of midweek games, both in the Camper UKPremier South division ended with the visitors a goal to the good. This was especially significant for Bakewell as it brought their first win of the season, 3-2 at Mickleover Athletic, and took the lead with a Jack Heath goal on 25 minutes, a superb header from Cole Hassell five minutes later bringing the scores level, but Bakewell were in front again by half time, Rob Littlewood with the goal.  John Ballington’s penalty gave Bakewell a cushion, Hassell’s second five minutes from time gave the visitors a few nervous moments but they held on. Wirksworth Ivanhoe are one of only two teams to remain unbeaten and held on to this distinction with a 2-1 win at Gresley Rovers Reserves. They had to come from behind, Ethan Kelleher putting Gresley ahead after half an hour, Wirksworth keeping up their run with goals from Ewan Sutherill and Lucas Brough.

SATURDAY’S MATCHES

Another win for Wirksworth Ivanhoe propelled them to third in the table, their latest victims, FC Sunnyhill, the final score 3-1. Scorers for the hostswere Ewan Sutherill, Lewis Higton and Lewis Hughes, Daniel Stevenson with the goal for Sunnyhill. It was the late show as league leadersGraham Street Prims dug deep, scoring three times in the final eight minutes to overturn Selston 5-3. Alex Seale gave Prims the lead after 6 minutes, Jack Cockram equalising with 18 on the clock.  George Lynam re-established Prims’ advantage on the half hour, but after the interval were overhauled by goals from Arthur Pashley on 63 minutes and Cockram again with a quarter of an hour left, but in a final twist, Prims turned the game on its head, Marcus Thomas levelling eight minutes from time, Connor Carlin on 88 minutes and Seale in the 90th pulling the points from the fire. Another comeback was at Blidworth Welfare, where the home side again scored in the last minute to rescue a point against Mickleover Athletic. Lewis Bagshaw scored twice for Mickleover, Harry Topliss getting one back before the break. The home side missed a penalty at the start of the second half but still got on terms through George Dyson, only for Jamarley Rouse to restore the lead almost immediately, Blidworthrescuing a point  thanks to Henry Eastgate in the final minute. Derby Singh Brothers stayed in touch with the top group, a Tyler Johal double and one from Sahil Bhagawan giving them a 3-1 win at Holbrook St Michaels whose goal came fromRichard Hanslow. Linby Colliery achieved the almost impossible in the CMAL by recording successive goalless draws, this time against Melbourne Dynamo.

The Premier North action this weekend was reduced to just four matches, three of which concerned the top three. Leaders Teversal lost for only the second time, overwhelmed by a top class display from Elite AFC the final score 4-0. On target for Elite were Tobias Burke who scored after just two minutes, Innocent Folaju on 27, burke getting his second ten minutes later to give the home side a comfortable half time lead. They added a fourth ten minutes from time, Travis Gordon the scorer to complete a morale-boosting win. Dinnington Town moved within striking distance at the top after a 4-1 win at Glapwell. Again the opening goal came from the defeated side, Sean Moore the Glapwell scorer on 3 minutes. A quickfire double from Nathan Jessop after 26 minutes and Liam Royles three minutes later put Dinnington in control, but it took until midway through the second half for Jordan Turner to increase the lead, Josh Stead adding the final goal ten minutes from time. Kinsley Boys climbed to third with a 6-1 win against Ollerton Town, A goal from Nathan Harrop and a brace for Jack White gave Kinsley a solid lead, Ollerton's reply making it 3-1 at the interval. Further strikes for Rio Cooke and Lucas Stubbs and finally White’s hat trick goal completed the half dozen. Finally Rossington Main Reserves picked up their first points of the season in spectacular fashion, scoring seven without reply at AFC Phoenix, the goals coming from Josh Badgerand Vivaldo Baia with two each, Oliver Bowes, Harrison Shikell and an own goal

Abacus Lighting Central Midlands Alliance League Premier Division Roundup – September 6th

MIDWEEK MATCHES

Just four matches this week, all four in the Camper UK Premier South Division.

Blidworth Welfare endured what these days is known as a ”challenging” evening, visitors Holbrook St Michaels picking up their first points of the seasonand in the process scoring twice as many goals as they had in their previous five games, as theyinflicted a 6-1 defeat. The visitors were two up in the first fifteen minutes and went in at half time 4-0 to the good before completing the half dozen after 63 minutes. Blidworth finally got one back in the dying minutes, Harry Topliss scoring what was more a token than a consolation. Richard Hanslow got a hat trick for Holbrook, Anri Burmeisters added two, Scott Boyall also finding the net. Blidworth, along with Cromford & Wirksworth Town, have now played just over a quarter of their league fixtures in what has been an intense opening month. Cromford forced a 3-3 draw at Holbrook Sports, having come from behind three times. Sports were quickly out of the blocks, Archie Meyer giving them a 3rd minute lead which lasted for only eight minutes when Gianluca Gandola got the equaliser. Holbrook werereduced to ten men on 20 minutes but despite thisthey regained the lead through Rhys Schofield three minutes before half time. A penalty miss by the home side early in the second half was a turning point as Jordan Watts brought the sides level again on the hour, five minutes before Matty Duggan hit Holbrook’s third. This appeared to be decisive until a final twist in the second minute of added time whenScott Taylor levelled for the third and final time.Bakewell Town also got off the mark but in less spectacular fashion, their game at Linby Colliery ending goalless despite both sides creating chances. Graham Street Prims and Gresley Rovers Reserves also drew, the goals in their 1-1 draw coming early, Jorge Knowles' 3rd minute goal for Prims countered by an own goal on 13.

SATURDAY’S MATCHES

An interesting fact for all those of you fascinated by statistics, in five of the six matches in the Premier North on Saturday, the winning team scored five. Here are the details. The current leaders, Teversal, were the visitors to the YMCA Sports Village, putting on an impressive display to beat hosts RHP Sports 5-0. With just three minutes played a Josh Parfitt shot was parried by the home team’s keeper into the chest of a defender who ran it into his own net. Elliott Bland added a second ten minutes later, Tevie going in at half time three up as Parfitt foundthe target in the 38th minute. The visitors took charge of most of the second half without increasing the score until the final minutes when Dylan Thornley and Patryk Podgorski enlarged the winning margin. Dinnington Town entertained SJR Worksop, taking the lead in the 14th minute with a goal from LiamRoyles, Steve Taylor making the half time score  2-0. Peter Scott pulled one back for SJR on 65 minutesbut any worries the home spectators may have had were firmly laid to rest by Jordan Turner who putsome gloss on the final score with a quickfire hat trick in the 81st , 89th and 92nd minutes. AFC Phoenix were also among the goals, they got the better of AFC Bentley at Brinsworth the final score again 5-1. Jack Charlesworth got a hat trick, Chris Hopkins and Kemahti Anderson with one apiece while Luke Flanagan replied for Bentley, Harworth Colliery travelled the short distance to Ollerton Town, returning with the points after (yes, you’ve guessed it) a 5-0 win. Harworth were two up at the break, Callum Edwards giving them a tenth minute lead, Harvey Smith getting the second shortly before half time. Goals came at regular intervals in the second half, Rob Singer with number three on 58 minutes, Smith getting his second in the 70th minute before Singer’s second six minutes from time. Kinsley Boys’ visit to Worksop Town Reserves also ended 5-1 in favour of the visitors. Harrison Morley scored on 18 and 40 minutes, Matthew Ireson reducing the lead a minute later before Lucas Stubbs increased it again four minutes later. Goals in the last ten minutes from Stubbs and Cory Woodward completed the scoring. Finally the game where neither team scored five, Yorkshire Main beating Elite AFC 2-1 with Robbie Wood’s 26th minute goal for Elite not quite enough to beat Danny Boulton’s double for Main.

Graham Street Prims and Borrowash Victoriachanged places at the top of the Premier South Division after Prims’ 4-2 win at  Derby Singh Brothers. Alex Seale gave Prims the lead after 10 minutes, Jagtar Dhanoa equalising with 19 minutes played. Aaron Harvey then put the visitors back in front two minutes before the interval before Tristan Elson and Adam Morley killed the game off , Sahil  Bhagawan’s 83rd minute goal for Singhs too late to make a difference. Borrowash Victoria returned empty-handed from their trip to Wirksworth Ivanhoea late goal resulting in a 2-1 defeat. Lucas Broughgave Ivanhoe a dream start with a 4th minute goal,Vics equalising with a Josh Lee penalty, the home team’s winner coming from Jack Higton in the 87thminute. Linby Colliery’s frustrating run continues, reaching a new low at Gresley Rovers Reserves, as they crashed to a 6-1 defeat. Gresley, who are enjoying a much better start in comparison with last season, led 4-0 at the break, with a Ben Mann double, one from Nathan Bowen and an own goal, Bowen getting a second, Zach Hamilton pulling one back for Linby before the hosts had the last word,Oliver Potts bringing up the half dozen in stoppage time. Melbourne Dynamo have climbed to third in the table, a considerable achievement after their start to the season. They brought to an end a miserable week for Blidworth Welfare as Olly Grimshaw, Dylan Muir, Jack Griffiths, Jack Goodband and Isaac Nkrumah shared the goals for Melbourne, and Dillon Hodgkinson found the net for Blidworth, the game ending 5-1. It really should have been in the North division. Holbrook St Michaels built on theirmidweek result with a 2-0 win against FC Sunnyhill, Ciaran Gillespie and Richard Hanslow the goalscorers. A single goal from a Liam Taylor penalty after 26 minute was sufficient to give Selston maximum points at Mickleover RBL

Abacus Lighting Central Midlands Alliance League Premier Division Roundup – August 30th

MIDWEEK MATCHES

Tuesday was a red letter day for two of the promoted teams in the Camper UK Premier South division. Mickleover Athletic and FC Sunnyhill both collected their first wins at this level. Mickleover’s win also brought their first points as they won 4-1 against Linby Colliery who will be desperate to get August out of the way. The visitors actually scored first, Ashdon Bernard striking in the 5th minute, but that was as good as it got for the Notts side as the hosts ran in four, Jamie Laird with a brace, Cole Hassell and Oliver Palmer also on target. FC Sunnyhill’s win was more modest but just as significant as a first half goal from Myles Sturgess proved to be the difference between themselves and Bakewell Town who, despite an improved showing, remain without a point. Blidworth Welfare, another team for whom the early season glut of games has proved difficult to negotiate, went down to a 2-0 defeat at the hands (or feet) of Selston who took the lead on 4 minutes, Arthur Pashley giving them the perfect start, Liam Taylor’s second, after 57 minutes, sufficient to take the points. The local derby between Cromford & Wirksworth Town and Wirksworth Ivanhoe finished goalless despite Cromford playing with ten men for the whole of the second half. Three Derby sides occupy the leading places in the division, with two of them in action in midweek. Graham Street Prims hada 2-0 win at Holbrook Sports with a goal in each half, Aaron Harvey with the first on 40 minutes butthe result still in the balance until the very end when Tristan Elson got the second and with it all three points. Having played and won an extra matchBorrowash Victoria top the early rankings but certainly didn’t have it all their own at Mansfield Hosiery Mills. The home side had the better of the early exchanges, taking the lead through Matt Fowler on 19 minutes. Borrowash upped their game but Mills held firm until half time. The second halfbelonged to the visitors who were camped in their opponents’ half for long periods and finally drewlevel with a James Patterson goal after 49 minuteswith what turned out to be the decider comingmidway through the half from a rather unfortunate own goal leaving Vics with the spoils and Millsprobably wishing they’d added a couple more goals in the first half.

Fewer games but more goals in the Premier North where Ollerton Town almost staged the greatest comeback of the season ( Yes I realise there are one or two games still to come ). Staveley Reserves, their opponents, went in front with a Josh Nicholls goal in the tenth minute, Louis Hall doubling the lead five minutes before half time. Hali scored again on 54, Nicholls got his second on 65 before Hall completed his hat trick two minutes later to make it 5-0.Forward to 75 minutes and Lewis Price scored what appeared to be a consolation for Ollerton. Two minutes later Jack Noble got a second. With two minutes to go Noble scored again and in the final minute Daniel Gillatt cut the deficit to one, but the referee brought it to an end before the comeback was complete. The reserve teams of Worksop Town and Rossington Main met at Sandy Lane. Rossington took the lead on 19 minutes, Josh Badger the scorer, and were in front until the 55th minute when Matthew Ireson equalised. Max Eastwood put the Tigers ahead with 63 played before scoring a superb second, driven home from 30 yards in the 88th minute to end the entertainment. Elite AFC won their home game with Kinsley Boys 2-1, Brodie Burton and Tobias Burke on target for Elite, Lucas Stubbs with Kinsley’s reply.

SATURDAY’S MATCHES

There was almost a full programme of Premier South matches on Saturday with the majority of them following the current formbook. The three leaders became two as Borrowash Victoria and Graham Street Prims had narrow wins while Mickleover RBL didn’t. Borrowash overcame Cromford & Wirksworth Town by a single goal scored by Josh Lee on 17 minutes which should give Cromford some encouragement after their injury plagued startto the season. Prims went one better, Aaron Harveyscoring in the 14th minute and again seven minutes into the second half to complete a 2-0 win against Mickleover Reserves. RBL lost 3-0 at Linby Colliery, a result which again should give a boost to Linby after their indifferent start to the season. Harry Thorne scored the opening goal on the stroke of half time, Ewan Gibson with number two in the 53rd,before Will Knowles took away any lingering doubts nine minutes from the final whistle. Mickleover Athletic weren’t able to build on their midweek success, going down 4-2 on their visit to Holbrook Sports. It took just 15 seconds for Holbrook to go in front, Brad Daly with the extremely rapid strikewhich was chalked off in the 5th minute by Cole Hassell. Daly’s second on 17 minutes again bringing a quick response, this time from Ronee Hendricksthree minutes later. Into the second half and Daly completed his hat trick in the 66th minute, this timethe rapid response came from a team mate, Ewan Barnes taking the score to 4-2 which was how it ended. There was a point apiece for Blidworth Welfare and FC Sunnyhill from a 1-1 draw.  Ben Copestake gave Blidworth a first half lead, whichseemed certain to be the winner, but for the second time in the last three games they conceded in stoppage time, Kayland Anderson finding the equaliser in the 94th minute. Just as they seemed to have turned the corner there was more frustration for Melbourne Dynamo as they lost 2-1 at Gresley Rovers. Ashton Frost and Ben Mann with the goals for the hosts, Jack Goodband scoring for Melbourne who also missed a penalty. At the wrong end of the table, Bakewell Town remain pointless after a 4-1 defeat at home to Selston. An even first half was goalless until the 42nd minute when Liam Taylor put Selston in front then doubled the advantage with 56 on the clock. Colt Reynolds made it three after 70 minutes before Aaron Maund got Bakewell on the scoresheet five minutes from time but Selston had the last word, Ty Short scoring in added time. Holbrook St Michaels also lost 4-1 at Wirksworth Ivanhoe. Wirksworth’s goalscorers were Ewan Sutherill, Harley Taylor, Jack Higton and Sam Smith with Anri Burmeisters getting Holbrook’s consolation goal.

Once more the place for goals was the Premier North division where the five matches produced 30 goals which included a goalless draw.

Teversal, enjoying a complete reversal of last season’s fortunes, took Yorkshire Main to the cleaners, giving them the full treatment as they ran out 8-1 winners. As is often the case, the unfortunate victims didn’t start too badly, Josh Radford’s 10thminute goal for Tevie quickly answered by Main’s Dec Slater. This drew a devastating first half response from the hosts beginning with a Josh Parfitt goal on 20 minutes followed by one from Tyrone Macaskill nine minutes later. The visitors then contributed to their own downfall by adding two own goals in the space of two minutes to the growing total, Cameron Pinnick making it 6-1 at the halfway point, Main having obligingly missed a penalty. The second half saw things settle down with just two more goals from Parfitt (54) and Radford (68) to complete the rout. Even more goals at Kinsley where AFC Phoenix went down 8-3. Once again the visitors made the mistake of taking the lead, Raul Ciobata’s opener drawing a 10th minute equaliser though i can’t match Kinsley’s scorers with the goal times. Phoenix regained the lead through Kem Anderson three minutes later but this time there was a different response, Kinsley taking charge with goals on 19, 21 and 24 minutes and another before half time. Againthings quietened down in the second half, Chris Hopkins scoring a third for Phoenix on 70 minutes, the equivalent of poking a hornet’s nest as Kinsley unleashed three more on 71, 79 and 81 minutes to end the stream of goals. Kinsley’s goals were shared between Jack White who scored four, Lucas Stubbs and Nathan Harrop with two each. Another convincing home win at Harworth who beat Worksop Reserves 5-1. A dominant first half performance saw the home side four up at the interval, Billy Stafford’s 13th minute goal followed by a second nine minutes later from Rob Singer. The sequence was then repeated as Stafford’s second in the 29th minute and Singer’s just before half time effectually ensured thepoints stayed at home. Callum Edwards made it even more emphatic on 52 minutes, Worksop’s Luke Abdyscoring what was of little consolation ten minutesfrom the end. An excellent all-round performance from AFC Bentley was rewarded with a 4-0 win at Ollerton Town. The visitors were in charge for almost the whole game taking the lead with a Jordan Snodin penalty after 14 minutes. This was followed by an outrageous second gal as Deven Hannan, ten yards inside his own half took advantage of the breeze to launch the ball towards the Ollerton goal which f

to everyone’s surprise , including the home keeper, finished up in the net. A superb strike from Haris Diagabate in the 50th minute and another on 67,completing a comfortable win for the visitors. In complete contrast to the above Burngreave United and Elite AFC played out a goalless draw.

Abacus Lighting Central Midlands Alliance Roundup – August 23

MIDWEEK MATCHES

In the Camper OK Premier South Division Melbourne Dynamo’s resurrection continued with a 6-1 win at Mickleover Reserves. They have now scored fifteen goals in their lastthree matches as opposed to one in the first three. Scorers on Tuesday night were Jack Goodband with a hat trick, Elliott Dawson, Oliver Grimshaw and Regan Bickerton with Arnold Marimbe replying for the home side. Derby Singh Brothers still lead the table, but only just, as their winning run came to an end at Blidworth Welfare taking a point from a 2-2draw. It could have been worse, the equaliser coming in the final minute of normal time. Blidworth led in the 14th minute with a goal from Tris Burrell, a lead they held until the end of the half when the visitors levelled through Emmanuel Nnaji. Seven minutes into the second half Dillon Hodgkinson restored Blidworth’s lead, but as their goal led a charmed life in the closing stages they were denied a first win of the season in the last minute, Mario Gomez finding a gap in a crowded goalmouth to ensure Singhs went home with a share of the points.  Borrowash Victoria’s 3-0 win against Gresley Rovers Reserves was effectively settled by half timeas Josh Lee’s 5th minute opener was followed by further goals from Oscar Supple on 19 minutes and Ben Hilton a couple of minutes from the interval to keep Vics’ place in the leading group. Holbrook Sports came from behind twice to draw 2-2 with WirksworthIvanhoe went in front with a James Colebourne penalty, Owen Gorman equalising on the stroke of half time. Lewis Higton restored the visitors’ advantage but again Holbrook fought back, Ewan Barnes with the equaliser nine minutes from time. Cromford & Wirksworth Town beat Holbrook St Michaels 2-0, both goals scored by Joe Geeson.

In the Premier North Dinnington Town reached the top after a 4-1 win at AFC Phoenix who were in front after just 8 minutes, but that was as good as it got for the home team. The lead lasted for just three minutes, Liam Flint with the leveller. Brad Kerr kept up his goal or two a game after half an hour, Nathan Jessop adding a third shortlybefore half time. To their credit Phoenix restricted their opponents to just one more goal, Connor Peace putting away a penalty in the 68th minute. Two reserve sides met at Sandy Lane Worksop Town edging out Staveley 3-2. The visitors scored the only goal of the first half, James Millar putting the Trojans ahead after 25 minutes. The beginning of the second half brought a flurry of goals. Worksop equalised on 51 minutes through George Jenkinson, the visitors regaining the lead four minutes later with an Alex Coates penalty. It only took a minute for Max Eastwood to put the Tigers on level terms again, the same player slotting home a 68thminute, penalty to seal the win. On Wednesday Harworth Colliery made the short trip to Yorkshire Main, returning with the points after a 3-0 win. They went in front after half an hour. Billy Stafford’s header going in via the underside of the bar. The result was in the balance until the final ten minutes when Rob Singer added a second. Cory Goodwin   made it three on 83 minutes again with a header going in off the bar Perhaps Main should consider taking a couple of inches off the posts!!! Hatfield Town also had a local derby at AFC Bentley coming away with a 2-1win, Gregg Fairhurst and Joe Smith the scorers , Haris Diagabate replying for the hosts.

WEEKEND MATCHES

The shock result on Saturday came at Dinnington Town where the home side suffered a rare defeat, going down 3-2 against RHP Sports who took the lead in the first minute with a Sol Miller penalty., goingfurther ahead on 14 minutes, Clownes Steelethe scorer. Dinnington raised their game, top scorer Brad Kerr reducing the deficit with 26 played but the visitors refused to lie down, Kieran Job with a third after half an hour. Dinnington turned on the heat in the second half, Michael Golland reducing the margin just after the hour. Despite consistent pressure, a combination of poor finishing, desperate defending and pure good fortune kept the score unchanged, with a last minute penalty, well saved by visiting keeper Nathan Davies, the final straw for the hosts. Hatfield Town took the opportunity to go top on goal difference, beating Burngreave United &n
