RICHARD LANE’S 2025/26 ROUND UP

Central Midlands Alliance Premier Divisions -    Roundup for Saturday May 9th

MIDWEEK

Congratulations to Selston the champions of the Camper UK Premier South Division which earns them a quick return to Step 6 after just one season. The all important points were gained from a 2-0 win at Borrowash Victoria, Josh Smith with both goals in the 42nd and 87th minutes.

With the nominal end of the season fast approaching teams playing four games in eight days will obviously encounter difficulties with injuries and availability having a big part inthe outcomes of matches. One team that has bucked the trend is Wirksworth Ivanhoe. Since the beginning of April they have played eleven games, losing only once in the processwhich has lifted them to third in the Camper UK Premier South table. This week brought them two wins, the firstagainst. a similarly overworked Linby Colliery, the score 3-1with Lewis Higton scoring two and Lucas Brough the third, Ethan Fells getting one back for Linby. Two nights later the win was more clearcut, Gresley Rovers Reserves on the wrong end of a 5-0 scoreline, the goals shared between Chris Conroy, Ewan Sutherill, Lucas Brough, Jack Young and Tom Phillips. Bakewell were another team double booked this week. Tuesday saw them go down to a single goal, Sam Lowescoring six minutes from time to send Mickleover RBL home with the points. Two days later they got a share of the spoils from a 2-2 draw with Holbrook Sports. Harry Chiarella gave Holbrook a 15th minute lead Joe Muir equalising from the penalty spot six minutes before half time. Nick Bainbridge put the home side ahead after 72 , only for Billy Barnes to. levelthings ten minutes later. Runners up Graham Street Prims signed off with a 4-1 defeat of Melbourne Dynamo, the goals coming from Breeyen Grainger, Sam Simpson, Alex Seale and Sam Morgan, while Owen Nixon got one back for Melbourne.

The Premier North division had fewer postponements in the monsoon season which is reflected in the number of midweek matches being played.

Burngreave United and Brodsworth Main have hadcontrasting ends to the season. Burngreave picked up their fifth successive win when the two met on Thursday, their 3-0 win meaning Brodsworth ended the season with five successive defeats. Scorers for the home side were Theo Peat, Hassan Mohammed and Nasser El-Hyane. Harworth Collieryfinished in fifth place, ending the season with a 3-1 win at near neighbours Rossington Main Reserves. A 40th minute Alex Gibbins goal gave Harworth the half time lead which was wiped out by Toby Hopson on the hour. The visitors took the points with a Billy Stafford penalty five minutes later, Ewan Plant’s third on 78 ensuring the points went a couple of miles down the road. Just three days after beating them bythree clear goals SJR Worksop came from behind to force a 3-3 draw with Teversal. Joe Bean scored a 20th minute opener for the home side, the lead holding until two minutes before the interval, Josh Parfitt the scorer. A quickfire double from Alex Fereday and Parfitt again brought hopes of a quickrevenge but Bean got his second just after the hour mark, Tom Mullen with the equaliser after78 minutes. Two goals from Alex Coates and one from Louis Hall brought Staveley a 3-0 win against Elite AFC while Glapwell had Sean Moore for theonly goal of the game at AFC Bentley.

Four matches on Saturday brought the curtain down on the Premier North campaign. AFC Bentley bowed out with a win, goals from Daniel Dickinson on 22 minutes and Peter Razmoski six minutes from time. Jake Scott having equalised for SJR in the 73rd minute. Individual performance of the day came from Josh Parfitt who scored all four of Teversal’s goals in their 4-1 win at Ollerton Town. His opening goal broke the deadlock four minutes before half time. Max Bamba levelled the scores immediately after the break but Teversal regained the lead seven minutes later, Parfitt completed his hat trick on 62 minutes, adding a fourth for good measure in the 70thminute. Rossington Main Reserves have looked a differentside over the last few weeks and they signed off with a 2-1 win at Elite AFC. Elite led at half time, Tommy Pallett the scorer but two goals from James Kirk turned it round for the visitors                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 A promising first half for Glapwell was spoilt by a mediocre second 45 against Staveley Reserves. Glapwell exerted considerable pressure, hitting the woodwork twice but the wheels came off in the first ten minutes of the second half. Alex Coates scored immediately after the restart, Josh Njcholls getting a second on 54. Dan White pulled one back on the hour but Nicholls’ second in the 70th minute put an end to Glapwell’s hopes.

The final game in the Premier South saw Blidworth take on Linby Colliery.  The hosts went ahead with a Henry Eastgate goal after 25 minutes. Will Knowles equalised before a “lastman” offence reduced Linby to ten men. Despite this handicapthey went in front, Tassi with the goal which looked certain to take the points. Eastgate, however, had other ideas, producing an equaliser with the final kick of the season.                                                                                                Richard Lane

Central Midlands Alliance Premier Divisions -   Roundup for Saturday May 2nd

Congratulations to Kinsley Boys who took the Camper UK  Premier North title on Tuesday with a 2-1 win at SJR Worksop, their 14th consecutive win in the league, the goals coming from Brad Dockerty on 16 minutes, the goal which proved to be the winner scored, appropriately by Lucas Stubbs whose goals have been a key feature of the season’s success, This one matched the occasion, a 40 yard lob over the keeper which turned out to be the clincher. Perhaps inevitably their next match ended in defeat, a Muhammed Shebani hat trick giving Burngreave United a 3-1 win. No prizes for guessing Kinsley’s scorer, who turned out to be Lucas Stubbs. Commiserations go to Dinnington Town who finished the season as runners up for the second year running, but have two cup final appearances, the Abacus Lighting Floodlit Cup already won, the Buckingham Insurance League Cup final to be contested on Sunday May 9th at Alfreton. Dinnington concluded their league programme with a 2-1 win at Rossington Main Reserves, Jedidja Mafuta opening the scoring on 20 minutes, Josh Stead with the second on the half hour mark, Ashton Jacques on target for Rossington. It was a good week for Burngreave as apart from winning at Kinsley they also beat Harworth Colliery 3-0 to move up to third in the table. The scorers were Hassan Mohammed, Umar Mohammed and Aymad Gadour. Brodsworth Main have encountered a downturn in form recently and dropped to fourth after going down 2-1 at Elite AFC for whom Travis Gordon and Bartek Chrobak were the scorers Glapwell finally escaped the bottom three with a 2-0 win against Worksop Town Reserves, Oliver Parfitt on 10 minutes and Toby Francis after 27 to the rescue. Alex Coates scored twice and Sam Davies one in Staveley Reserves 3-1 win over Teversatl, Josh Parfitt with the goal. AFC Bentley and Ollerton Town shared the points in a 1-1 draw at The Avenue. Harvey Nunn gave Ollerton the lead four minutes before half time, Mark Baggaley equalising in the 80th minute.

Graham Street Prims had that rarest of things at this stage of the season, a free week. Their only challenger, Selston were disappointed on Tuesday night losing1-0 in the final of the Notts FA Senior Trophy against former Central Midlands team Collingham in front of a big crowd at Sherwood Colliery, and followed that up with a goalless draw at FC Sunnyhill. They are still short odds favourites for the title, being a point adrift with two games in hand. Borrowash, still in third place but well behind the top pair began the week with a 2-0 defeat at Mickleover RBL, Cole Hassell and  4-3 win at Cromford & Wirksworth Town, Jacob Hawksworth with two, Sam Allsop and Dan James with the goals, Cromford, now firmly in the bottom three, coming close, Simon Scully, Jordan Watts and Ben Cartwright all on the scoresheet. RBL followed up their win over Borrowash with another success at Holbrook St Michaels, Cole Hassell, Jordan Lee and Dan Wood with a goal each while Joe Moore and Dan Kellogg replied for the hosts. Wirksworth Ivanhoe have coped with the flood of fixtures as well as anyone, taking their winning run to nine with an eye catching 4-0 win against Melbourne Dynamo, Harley Taylor’s hat trick and one for Ewan Sutherill doing the damage. However that run was ended on Thursday night with the previous Saturday’s victims, Blidworth Welfare producing aa performance which didn’t match their position in the table to gain almost instant revenge. All the action was in the second half, Charlie Miller and Henry Eastgate gave Blidworth a solid base and as the game became a little heated, Miller got his second and Elliott Couldwell made it four before Lewis Higton hit a late consolation for the visitors. Two defeats in midweek for Mickleover Athletic, the fi rst at Gresley Rovers reserves which finished 3-1 with Evan Wynne, Finn Cooper and Davis Komney the scorers for Gresley, Ethan Cole Tonks with one for Mickleover. They then visited Bakewell Town where Rob Littlewood gave the hosts an early lead, Mickleover equalising before Littlewood and Archie Sykes gave Bakewell a two goal advantage. A second goal from the visitors took the game to half time and also ended the scoring, the second half proving goalless. Holbrook St Michaels took three points at Derby Singh Brothers, Rich Hanslow (2), Dan Kellogg and Joe Moore inspirational in a 4-2 win, Joshua Yeboah and Kofi Agyemang with the goals for Singhs.

SATURDAY’S MATCHES

With the champions and runners up already decided, interest usually switches to the other end of the table but even that has looked settled for a few weeks with Yorkshire Main already pencilled in, RHP finding their first season at this level a steep learning curve and AFC Phoenix dropped in it by a long list of defeats, going down 3-0  at home this week to Staveley Reserves for whom Sam Davis got all three. At Newark, visitors Rossington Main Reserves totally dominated the first half and were four up by half time. Dylan Betts scoring twice, Noah Kilcoyne and Joe Storey with one each. The second half proved almost the reverse with  RHP  attacking at will. They were rewarded as Ryan Attwood scored from the penalty spot and Clownes Steele halved the deficit. Rossington fought back, Betts completing his hat trick before Steele scored a second, the final score 5-3. Elite AFC won a close game at AFC Bentley 2-1 with goals from Travis Gordon after 13 minutes and Brodey Burden on 63. Bentley got one back, Rafael Sebastian scoring in the 76th minute but couldn’t find the equaliser.  SJR Worksop were 3-0 winners at Teversal, Cameron Baines with the opener on 22 minutes, Luke Tong doubling the score on the stroke of half time, Aaron Redfern sealing the win midway through the second half. Harworth Colliery and Kinsley Boys shared the points in a 3-3 draw, Billy Stafford giving Harworth the lead after just two minutes, Lucas Stubbs equalising with eight minutes on the clock. Rhys Hughes put Kinsley ahead on 32 but the lead lasted for only four minutes before Stafford brought the sides level before completing his hat trick in the 74th minute only for Jack White to grab a point seven minutes from time.

Selston have one hand on  the Premier South division trophy after their 2-0 win at Holbrook St Michaels where goals from Jordan Black  left them two points in front of Graham Street Prims with a game in hand.  Goals were rather hard to find with one exception. That was at Derby Singh Brothers where visitors Melbourne Dynamo  scored six without reply, Harry Simpkins and Jack Goodband with two each, Tyler Withers and Thando Moyo also on the scoresheet.  Cromford & Wirksworth Town switched their match to Blidworth which obviously suited them. Stu Baker and Matt Wilkinson                                                                                                                                                                          Goals were rather hard to find with one exception. That was at Derby Singh Brothers where visitors Melbourne Dynamo  scored six without reply, Harry Simpkins and Jack Goodband with two each, Tyler Withers and Thando Moyo also on the scoresheet.  Cromford & Wirksworth Town switched their match to Blidworth which obviously suited them, Stu Baker and Matt Wilkinson’s goals neatly lifting them out of the bottom three. A Tom Selby goal was enough to give Bakewell Town the points against Linby Colliery, while Borrowash Vics and Wirksworth Ivanhoe couldn’t find the net.

Central Midlands Alliance Premier Divisions -   Roundup for Saturday April 25th

While Dinnington Town were qualifying for their second cup final of the season on Tuesday night, the Camper UK Premier North title slipped a bit further away from them as Kinsley Boys won 2-0 at Rossington Main Reserves to leave them requiring five points from their four remaining matches to guarantee the championship. Both goals came in the first half. Brad Dockerty giving them a 14th minute lead and the ever-reliable Lucas Stubbs with the second, two minutes before half time, his 17th goal in the last six league fixtures. Having already won the Abacus Lighting Floodlit Cup, Dinnington will look to make it dual success when they take on Burngreave United on May 3rd at Alfreton Town in the Buckingham Insurance Cup Final. One goal was enough in the semi-final to put out Holbrook Sports, Jay Atkin doing the necessary in the 56th minute. Their cup opponents had a very successful couple of days. On Tuesday night they entertained Teversal, the 6-1 win taking them to joint fourth in the table. Burngreave were four up by half time, Will Palmer with two, Umar Mohammed and Muhammad Shebani also on target. Aymane Bargach and Abdulrahman Asad made up the half dozen after the restart, Alex Fereday finally getting Tevie on the map midway through the half. This set them up perfectly for the cup tie against Linby Colliery, alarm bells ringing when the Sheffield side went in front in the first minute, Umar Mohammed with the goal. Linby retaliated quickly and were soon level, Ethan Fells the scorer in the 8th minute. Play switched quickly from end to end but it was Burngreave who led at the break, Abdulrahman Asad netting with 43 minutes played. The turning point arrived midway through the second half, Burngreave keeper Ethan Blatch guessing correctly to keep out a Linby penalty, Umar Mohammed’s second confirming the win. Just as important as the cup ties, at least to AFC Phoenix, was their 3-2 win at Glapwell. The reason? It brought to an end an eye-watering sequence of no less than 15 straight defeats stretching back to December 6th. Hassan Daud was the man of the moment scoring all three for Phoenix, Toby Francis and Josh Turner scoring for Glapwell.                                                                          In the Premier South a dreadful week for Borrowash Vics has finally put paid to eeany lingering hopes of a title challenge. They suffered two defeats in 48 hours the first at Blidworth where Kelton Ashby and Finn Brooks gave the home side a welcome three points followed by a 3-0- home defeat at the hands of Graham Street Prims for whom Alex Coates scored on the hour, Haari Maqsood and Sam Morgan making sure in the last five minutes. Derby Singh Brothers won 2-1 at FC Sunnyhill, Mario Gomez with the opener after half an hour, Ricky Aietan adding the second two minutes from time. Two goals from Fin Cooper  gave Gresley Reserves the edge over Mickleover RBL, whose reply came n was scored by Jordan Lee.  Jack Griffiths scored another double for Melbourne Dynamo with Isaac Gosling also on the scoresheet as they beat Mickleover Athletic 3-0. The points were shared at Holbrook St Michaels, visitors Bakewell Town taking a valuable point from a 2-2 draw. Bakewell led with a Nick Rosling goal for much of the game,  Dan Kellogg finally levelling the scores on 71 minutes. The home side looked as if they were going to pinch the points after Joe Heverin put them in front in the 81st minute but Fenton Allan’s 88thminute equaliser ensured the visitors didn’t go home empty handed.

WEEKEND GAMES

After just one season back in the Central Midlands Selston took a big step in their bid to return to Step 6 after a 3-0 win at home to Graham Street Prims, The first half looked to be ending goalless until Jordan Black’s glancing header broke the deadlock four minutes in to added time. He then added a second from close range just after the hour mark. The final goal came deep into added time from a counter attack, Nick Hines the scorer. Selston now trail Prims by two points with three games in hand. Borrowash Vics put last week’s woes behind them with a 2-1 win at Holbrook St Michaels thanks to goals from Andy Boateng and Josh Lee, Anri Burmeister’s reply not quite enough for Holbrook to take anything the game. The effects of so much football concentrated in such a short time at this end of the season were surely illustrated by Holbrook Sports, one of the semi finalists in the gruelling midweek League Cup ties. Yesterday’s match at Derby Singh Brothers was their eighth in 21 days which may possibly have been a factor in their 9-2 defeat. Goals came at regular intervals, Abdul Akram’s hat trick backed up by two from Jagtar Dhanoa and one each for Kofi Agyemang, Ricky Aietan, Levi Hulme and James Pollard. Melbourne Dynamo maintained their fourth position, Regan Bickerton and Charlie Tovell with the goals that beat Linby Colliery 2-0. Wirksworth Ivanhoe have been quietly amassing the points, their winning run extended to eight games by their 3-0 win against Blidworth Welfare, Ewan Sutherill responsible for all three goals. It was the same scoreline at Mickleover RBL where Bakewell Town were the visitors, Harry Atwal, Jordan Lee and Oli Adul scoring for the hosts.    The Friday night game this week resulted in a 2-1 win for SJR Worksop against Harworth Colliery, a result that extended their unbeaten run to eight. Billy Stafford gave Harworth the lead a minute before half time, but were beaten by two goals from George McKernan, the first on 58 minutes, the winner coming eight minutes later. The Premier North title is almost settled, Kinsley Boys mathematically requiring two points from their final three games, though one will probably be enough. They did their goal difference no harm, beating Teversal 5-2 despite being a goal down, Cameron Pinnick scoring in the 9th minute the lead holding until Jack White equalised five minutes before the break. Lucas Stubbs put Kinsley in front four minutes after the restart, Rhys Hughes extended the lead before Pinnick scored again, Hughes and Cory Woodward tying things up. Dinnington had to rely on a 77th minute Jordan Turner goal to find their way past Worksop Town Reserves. AFC Phoenix couldn’t build on last week’s win, going down 3-1 at home to Elite AFC. They did score first through Raul Cioboatha but a double from Bartek Chrobak and one for Robbie Wood saw them home. Into the lower reaches of the table  where Rossington Main Reserves were 2-0 winners against Glapwell, the goals coming from Vivaldo Baia and Ashton Jacques. Staveley Reserves beat Brodsworth Main 5-1 but I haven’t any details.

REMINDER    THE SEMI-FINALS OF THE   BUCKINGHAM INSURANCE LEAGUE CUP

TUESDAY APRIL 21—DINNINGTON TOWN V HOLBROOK SPORTS  at LINBY COLLIERY FC  NG15 8AB

THURSDAY APRIL 23—BURNGREAVE UNITED V LINBY COLLIERY at HARWORTH COLLIERY FC DN11 8AE

BOTH MATCHES KICK OFF AT 7.45 PM Central Midlands Alliance Premier Divisions -   Roundup for Saturday April 18th

MIDWEEK

The mad rush to get all the outstanding matches played before the FA deadline began in earnest with matches taking place every night of the past week. The Camper UK Premier North title is now a two horse race, Kinsley Boys having, two points and two games in hand on Dinnington Town. Dinnington came within minutes of conceding possibly fatal points at Burngreave United, almost inevitably it was Jordan Turnerwho rescued them. They had profited from a 12th minute own goal, their opponents equalising through Christian Ngeudoeon 19 before Turner converted a penalty just two minuteslater. Hisham Awadh brought the sides level again before Turner’s late rescue act. Harworth Colliery’s challenge fizzled out a .and led with a Reece Jones goal at the end of the first half, Brandon Hooley equalising on 53 minutes. There was another very late winner at Teversal, Cameron Pinnick finding the net six minutes into added time to deny AFC Bentley the draw. Earlier the visitors had taken a first half lead through Deven Hannon, Tye Macaskill levelling three minutes after the interval. A polished performance from a young SJR Worksop side brought them a 6-1 win at RHP Sports. Callum Hayward put them in front in the eighth minute, Liam Arnold adding a second before Will Taylor got one back for RHP.Hayward and Callum Evans increased the lead, Evans   completing a quickfire hat trick with two in the last fiveminutes, which perhaps made the final scoreline look a bit over-emphatic.                                                                             The top of the Premier South also has the appearance of having two teams who are contesting the title, but a third contender is still in with a shout.  While Graham Street Prims were without any midweek commitments, Selston had a 4-0 win against Blidworth, due mainly to a first half hat trick from Tom Batterham after 7. 17 and 40 minutes, Alex Hardman with the fourth a couple of minutes from time. Borrowash Vics had a mixed week as they and Linby Colliery were the first of the many teams who will have to play two midweek matches in the same week as well as holding down a full timejob. Tuesday night saw them going down 2-1 at home to Melbourne Dynamo,, Oscar Supple’s goal beaten byDynamo’s Jack Griffiths’ double while Linby won 2-1 at Holbrook St Michaels, Louis Fazal and Charlie Tassi scoring for Linby, Anri Burmeister replying for the hosts. Linby and Borrowash met on Thursday with a reversal of fortunes, Borrowash winning 4-2. They were gifted a own goal in the 33rd minute Oliver Curd making it two a couple of minutes before half time. Paddy Stefaniak got one back on 45 minutes but there was still time for Jacob Hawksworth to restore the two goal lead in stoppage time, Linby took their role as hosts a little too far by gifting another own goal on the hour, Mason Moore with a consolation goal in the final minute. Wirksworth Ivanhoe beat neighbours Bakewell Town 2-1 the visitors leading in the 8th minute through R’Niall Brissett, Wirksworth taking the points with an own goal on 45 minutes and one from Ewan Sutherill ten minutes from time. Holbrook Sports were the third side with a double booking. The more significant game was Tuesday night’s defeat of Staveley Reserves, a single goal in the 54th minute, scored by Dylan Muir putting them into the semi finals of the League Cup. Thursday evening brought a 2-2 draw with Derby Singh Brothers, Nathan Bennett scoring twice, Singhs replying with goals from Christian Ndeugoe and Khaleeq Shaffique.

WEEKEND GAMES

Borrowash kept their hopes of featuring in the race for the title alive with a trip to Tideswell where they edged past Bakewell Town 2-1. Andy Boateng put them in front on 11minutes, the hosts levelling on the half hour. An Adam Clark penalty after 73 minutes secured the points for the Vics.Graham Street Prims are now just one point ahead of Selston who have two games in hand after dropping points with a 2-2 draw at Cromford and Wirksworth Town. Prims’ scoring from an own goal and an Alex Coates penalty. The points were also shared at Holbrook St Michaels where Melbourne Dynamo were the visitors, The match finished 1-1 Jake Dodds scoring from the spot for Holbrook, Jake Peverley replying for the visitors. Holbrook Sports warmed up for their Cup semi finalwith a 2-1 win at Blidworth Welfare. The match began with a quick exchange of goals, George Dyson giving Blidworth a 2nd minute lead only to see it disappear two minutes later when Nathan Bennett got a quick equaliser. Bennett was also responsible for the winner which came after 73 minutes. Wirksworth Ivanhoe moved up to fifth with enough games in hand to go even higher unless the crippling schedule of eight games by May 9th proves too much Their match at MickleoverAthletic ended in a 3-2 win, Ewan Sutherill with two goals, Lewis Hughes also on the scoresheet.

Dinnington Town returned to the top of the Premier North table, second half goals bringing them three points at Ollerton Town. Following a goalless first half, Nathan Jessop gave the visitors the lead on 54 minutes, Connor Peace following it up with a second four minutes later, Robbie Gregory’s 77th minutepenalty completing the scoring. They lead by a point from Kinsley Boys who have three games in hand. Teversal’s up and down season continues. After going down to strugglers Glapwell the previous week, they recovered sufficiently to beat third placed Brodsworth Main, a single Ty Macaskill goal in first half stoppage time proving sufficient. AFC Bentley left it late to capitalise on a good second half performance and pinch the points from under the nose of Harworth Colliery. The visitors looked good for the win at half time. After George Hughes had opened the scoring for Bentley in the 16thminute, a quick double from Daniel&nb
