RICHARD LANE’S 2025/26 ROUND UP
Central Midlands Alliance Premier Division Roundup March 7th
MIDWEEK
A mixed bag of fixtures this week includedmatches in the Camper UK North and South divisions, Buckingham Insurance League Cup and Abacus Lighting Floodlit Cup.
The semi finals of the Floodlit Cup will, somewhat surprisingly, involve three reserve team, two from Division One. Mickleover Athletic made the 150 mile round trip to Scunthorpe to face Appleby FrodinghamReserves but returned unrewarded after the match went to penalties. The match itself ended in a 2-2 draw, Rob Glynn and Adam Whomersley scoring for Frod, Dom Hurst andAsher Lester-Newton replying for the visitors, the resulting shootout went in favour of the hosts 3-2. At the opposite end of the league’s catchment area, Stapenhill Reserves doubled Division One’s representation in the last four as they eliminated Linby Colliery 2-1. Allthree goals came in the first half, Joe Worthand Musa Jeng scoring for the home side, Ewan Gibson’s goal for Linby not quiteenough. Dinnington Town gained some recompense for last week’s league defeat at Harworth Colliery with a 4-0 win putting them through to the semis. Tom Bishop struck twice in the opening quarter of an hour, Nathan Jessop putting the home side further ahead on 27 minutes before Mason Barlow sealed the win seven minutes after half time. The three winners will join Staveley Reserves in the semi finals. The League Cup tie on Tuesday night ended in disappointment for Melbourne Dynamo as they lost 2-1 to visitors Holbrook Sports who took a two goal lead in the first half through Dylan Muir and Nathan Bennett. Regan Bickerton got one back for Dynamo, but they couldn’t rustle up an equaliser. More reserve sides featured in the only Premier North midweek fixture, Rossington Main and Worksop Town’s second strings drawing 1-1, the point more valuable to bottom of the table Rossington for whom Noah Kilcoyne was the scorer, Elliott Probert with the goal for the Tigers.
The two Premier South fixtures kept the fight for top spot alive. Borrowash Victoria won their first match of 2026 to keep their grip on third spot, Oscar Supple the scorer of the 38thminute goal which turned out to be the only one in their game against Holbrook St Michaels. To their great credit Mansfield Hosiery Mills keep going against the odds. They had another rough 90 minutes on Wednesday night, not helped by two late red cards. Visitors Selston took three points and six goals home with them. They were three up at half time, Josh Smith, Tom Batterham and Nick Hynes the scorers. Leighton Bowering added a fourth on the hour, Archie Hawkins coming off the bench to mark his debut with the last two goals.
WEEKEND The two Fridaynight matches ended with two of the top five picking up three points with another suffering a setback. Harworth Colliery were left disappointed, as Burngreave United continued their impressive run, two second half goals giving them a 2-0 win at Scrooby Road. Will Palmer put them in front three minutes after the break, Abdulrahman Asad with the second on 56minutes. Brodsworth Main maintained their position at the top of the table with a 3-1 defeat of a makeshift Glapwell sidewho suffered a whole list of misfortunes including two players turning up at Brodsworth. In a scrappy game Joe Smith was quick off the mark with a 5th minuteopener for Brodsworth. Evan Palmerlevelled the scores on 24 but it took only three minutes for Callum Verhees to restore the visitors’ lead. The result was in the balance until five minutes from time when the prolific Callum Stockton settled matters. Kinsley Boys are still well placed, just behind the top two but with games in hand on both. They narrowly defeated Worksop Town Reserves 2-1 with the free scoring Lucas Stubbs striking on 28 minutes, Kyle Rose with the second just six minutes later. Dinnington sent a reminder to their rivals, hammering Teversal 6-1. That man Jordan Turner was again on form, with four of the goals, opening his account on 11 minutes and following it up three minutes before halftime. The goals began to flow in the second half, Josh Stead adding number three on 50 minutes before Turner completed his hat trick from the penaltyspot three minutes before the hourfollowed by his fourth and one from Mason Barlow to complete the half dozen, Josh Parfitt getting a consolation for Teviesix minutes from time. Staveley Reservescoasted to a 5-0 win against AFC Bentley. A Sam Davies hat trick and one each forTom Phipps and Isaac Wileman were more than enough to take the points. A single second half goal for Ben Davies was sufficient to give Elite the edge over SJR Worksop. Ollerton Town couldn’t have left it any later to snatch the points from AFC Phoenix, the winner coming in the final minute of added time. The visitors went in front on 18 minutes with a well struck long range effort from Danny Briggs, Ollerton’s George Slack levelling the scores in the 36th minute, only for Raul Ciaboata to re-establish the lead for Phoenix just four minutes later. The hosts equalised again seven minutes into the second half, Harvey Limb the scorer. That’s how it stayed until Slack became the local hero deep into added time. Melbourne Dynamo overcame their League Cup disappointment, Blidworth Welfare paying the price as they sank to an 8-0 home defeat. The goals were shared between six players, Jake Peverley and Tyler Withersgetting two apiece, Jack Goodband, Jack Griffiths, Regan Bickerton and Isaac Gosling with one each. Derby Singh Brothers staged a second half comeback to claim a point at Mickleover Athletic who took a 3-1 half timelead with two goals from Jamie Laird and one for Kyle Clamp, Tyler Johal replying for Singhs. The visitors pulled it round after the interval, Johal getting his second and Immanuel Freeman also finding the net. The teams at the lower end of the table had a much better day on Saturday, Mansfield Hosiery Mills picked up their first point since mid-November, pulling off a 2-2 draw with Holbrook St Michaels thanks to Dean Webster-Smith and Fynn Marshall whose goals were matched by Nduoha Chilaka and Rich Hanslow. Fellow strugglers MickleoverReserves have looked a side with a lot more confidence in recent matches and had another promising ninety minutes at Cromford where, despite a spirited fightback, they were narrowly beaten 3-2. After an early red cardthe home side went into the lead with a Stu Baker goal. A Scott Taylor double saw Cromford sitting pretty, but Mickleover showed some fight, Dylan Buckley-Moore and Juste Ngette reducing the deficit to one and giving the hosts some nervous moments. Two second half goals were enough for LinbyColliery to take the points from their homematch with Holbrook Sports. Harry Thorne headed home a Louis Fazal cross for the first on 58 minutes, Zach Hamilton firing the second from the edge of the area twelve minutes from time. FC Sunnyhill took on Mickleover RBL winning by the odd goal in five. Two Kaylan Anderson goals and one from Lewis Benjamin shaded it for Sunnyhill, Dean Oliver and Jordan Lee taking the Legion close. One goal was sufficient to separateGresley Rovers Reserves and Bakewell Town, Gresley’s Stevie Savage ensuring the pointsstayed at home. Borrowash Victoria capped a much more encouraging week, progressing in the Buckingham Insurance League Cup with a 3-1 win against Wirksworth Ivanhoe who went in front with a 27th minute goal from Tom Mellor. Andy Boateng equalised eight minutes later, the match settled by two goals in the space of two minutes, Ethan Watson putting Vics in front on 75 minutes, Jacob Hawksworth making sure shortly afterwards.Graham Street joined them as they ended Stapenhill Reserves’ creditable bid to dominate the two senior cup competitions, the final score 5-2. Marcus Thomas put Prims in front in the fifth minute, Blaise Duruaku doubling the lead on 17. Will Baker halved thelead three minutes before half time. That was how it stayed until the 72nd minute when Duruaku got his second, followed two minutes later by a fourth from Tristan Elson. Alex Seale turned the screw five minutes from timebut Stapenhill had the last word, Musa Jeng scoring in the dying seconds.
Congratulations to Selston who will contest the Notts FA Senior Trophy Final after beatingNotts Senior League outfit AC United 4-1. A straight red for an opposing player in the 26thminute was punished almost immediately, Selston taking the lead minutes later, Alex Hardman with a half volley from twelve yards. Seven minutes later a 25 yard rocket from Elliott Bland provided a bit of a cushion for the second half. Tom Batterham made it threeon the hour before their opponents pulled one back on 77 minutes. An extraordinary lengthy period of added time gave Jordan Black the opportunity to extend the lead and complete a convincing victory.

Central Midlands Alliance Premier Division Roundup February 28th
A couple of mild, dry nights allowed some midweek matches to be played on grass this week. The most interesting result came in the Camper UK Premier North where Harworth Colliery stirred up the chase fortop spot by beating Dinnington Town 2-0. Two goals from Billy Stafford took the points, the first a 9th minute penalty, the second eight minutes into the second half. The scoreline will be a boost for Kinsley Boys who are just a point behind Dinningtonbut now have two games in hand. In the south It was business as usual for Mansfield Hosiery Mills as Derby Singh Brothers went home with the points and a boost to their ‘Goals For’ column. Singh’s went in three goals up after dominating the first half. Strangely, Mills had more possession after the interval but conceded another six. Jagtar Dhanoa got four for Singhs, Tyler Johal added two and there was one each for Troy Carty and Rajan Shergill plus an own goal. A better result for Mickleover Reserves but still no points as Tom Mellor and Dan Wilson came off the bench to give Wirksworth Ivanhoe the win. There were also a couple of ties in the BuckinghamInsurance League Cup. Burngreave Unitedbeat Rossington Main Reserves 2-0 with goals from Umar Mohammed and Hassan Mohammed. Borrowash Victoria joined them after a penalty shootout win against FC Sunnyhill. The match ended 1-1, Josh Lawrence scoring for Vics who prevailed10-9 in the shootout. Comeback of the season was in the Abacus Lighting Floodlit Cup match between Staveley Reserves and Melbourne Dynamo. A goal in each half from Haydn Simpkins put Melbourne comfortably ahead but, with 17 minutes remaining, Staveley burst into life, Leo Rimmer getting one back. Two minutes later James Rodgers levelled the scores, then, as penalties loomed, Louis Hall put Staveley ahead on 87 minutes before Alex Coates rubbed it in two minutes after the ninety.
Saturday dawned damp and miserable but the matches that did survive Friday’s downpour provided plenty of goals as compensation. Brodsworth Main moved to the top of the Camper UK Premier North table after defeating Worksop Town Reserves 9-0. A superb save early in the game by home keeper Ellis Pattison while the game was scoreless provided a wake upcall, Joe Smith opening the scoring in the 10th minute, Callum Stockton with the second four minutes later. Further strikes by Greg Fairhurst, Jack Bonser and Callum Verhees took the score at the interval to five, making the second half a damage limitation exercise for the visitors. Stockton got his second just before the hour, Caleb Fajolu scoring number seven just after. Verheesgot his second in the closing stages before Stockton completed another hat trick with five minutes to play.Harworth Colliery were 7-3 winners at RHP Sports, the ten goals scored by ten different players. Harvey Smith gave Harworth the best possible start in the 2nd minute, Rob Singer putting them two up after 28. RhuelSamuels pulled one back on 37 minutes which was almost immediately countered by Daniel Boulton. Charlie Reeve looked to have sewn the game up giving Harworth a three goal lead on 63 minutes but this time it was the hosts who had an immediate response, Ryan Attwood the goalscorer. Clownes Steele brought RHP within a goalof their opponents on 77 minutes, MitchellClogg stretching the lead again four minuteslater. Goals in added time by Billy Stafford and Declan Sipson-Heath making the final score rather flattering to the visitors. There was another 9-0 scoreline in the Premier South, Mansfield Hosiery Mills being on the receiving end for the fourth time this season. The beneficiaries this time were Holbrook Sports who were two goals up in the first ten minutes thanks to Brad Daly. Dylan Muir then repeated the feat, Harry Chiarella making it five by half time. After a quiet 20 minutes Ewan Barnes found the net in the 66th minute followed a couple of minutes later by Daly’s hat trick goal. William and Ewan Barnes added the final two strikes completing a week that Mills will want to quickly forget. The division’s other strugglers, Mickleover Reserves, had a much better afternoon, giving Derby Singh Brothers a run for their money, before going down 2 -1. All the goals came in the first half, Khaleeq Shaffique with both for Singhs, Tye Simpson scoring for Mickleover. Linby Colliery and Cromford & Wirksworth Town bucked the trend, neither able to break the duck.
Three more places in the Buckingham Insurance quarter were settled, all in the northern half of the draw. Dinnington Town beat SJR Worksop 2-0, both goals coming early, Sam Eckhardt scoring after 10 minutes, Jay Atkin with number two just four minutes later. Kinsley Boys joined them after a 2-1 defeat of Elite AFC. Lucas Stubbs gave Kinsley an 18th minute which was wiped out by Jacob Swales ten minutes before half time. The all important third goal arrived in the 65th minute, Kinsley’s Jamie Bettison putting his side through to the last eight. Staveley Reserves went through after a 4-2 defeat of AFC Bentley.. Sam Daviesput Staveley ahead after 17 minutes, Alex Coates doubling the score five minutes before the break. Brad Sykes got one back for the visitors eight minutes into the second half, Coates restoring the two goaldifference just four minutes later . Not to be outdone, Luca Curtis kept the outcome in the balance until eight minutes from time when Charlie Bingham settled it once and for all. Richard Lane

Graham Street Prims are now nine points clear at the top of the Camper UK Premier Division South. Wednesday night saw them beat Holbrook St Michaels 4-2, goals at either end of the match doing the trick, Marcus Thomas with the opener on 15 minutes, Alex Seale taking just two minutes more to add a second. Seale got his second after 78 minutes with Aaron Harvey striking two minutes from time. Holbrook’s reply came from Richard Hanslow and Josh Gregory. Melbourne Dynamo may well look back to the start of the season and wonder what might have been as they consolidated fourth place with a 2-0 defeat of FC Sunnyhill, Regan Bickerton and Jack Goodband with the goals. Mickleover Athletic found their shooting boots as they comfortably disposed of Mansfield Hosiery Mills 7-2 with goals from Kaelin Cole-Tonks who got a hat trick, Collins Ajayi, Darius Fern, Ethan Cole-Tonks and Archie Meyer, Mills replying withgoals from Callum Barker and Callum Marsh.
On Saturday, second placed Selston played their first league game since November against third from bottom Bakewell Town, the final margin being a little smaller than what might have been expected, Selston winning 2-1. The home side took a 21st minute lead, a quick interchange of passes reaching Tom Batterham, whose lofted through ball was met by Alex Hardman. Bakewell levelled two minutes before the hour, Jack Heath benefiting from good work by 16 year old Harry Butterworth, the winner coming five minutes later, Batterham celebrating his birthday with a decisive finish.
There were big wins for Holbrook St Michaels and Derby Singh Brothers. Holbrook were the latest team to give their goal difference a boost at the expense of Mickleover Reserves, running in nine while their opponents managed just one in return scored by Jawanza Anderson. Richard Hanslow got yet another two, as did Jake Dodds, the other goals shared between Dan Kellogg, JoeHeverin, Charlie Holness and Anri Burmeister. Singh Brothers turned up the heat in the second half as they saw off Blidworth Welfare 7-2. Blidworth led twice in the first half, their hosts levelling twice then taking the lead with the last kick of the half. Singhs’ superior pace told in the second half as they gradually pulled clear. The goalscorers were Tyler Johal with four, Mario Gomez, Ricky Aletan, and Jagtar Dhanoa for Singhs, with Archie Ward and Ivo Radzivilovics replying for Blidworth. Another team to move up the gears were Wirksworth Ivanhoe who trailed to a goal from Mickleover Athletic’s Dom Hurst at the interval before a better second 45. Lucas Brough’s double and one apiece from Sam Smith and Owen Young seeing them home. Lewis Bagshaw with a second for the visitors. Ashton Frost and Alex Pott scored Gresley Reserves’ goals that completed a miserable week for visitors FC Sunnyhill who fell to their second defeat in four days, Lewis Benjamin’s reply not enough to prevent a 2-1 defeat.
For a change it was the Premier North’s turn to suffer the majority of postponements. The one midweek fixture resulted in a 4-0 win for Burngreave United on their visit to Staveley Reserves. Burngreave, unbeaten in ten in which they have scored 47 times , have quietly moved into the top four. The scorers in Wednesday’s match were Hisham Awadh, Joe Wood, Danai Rhule and Umar Mohammed. Teversal kept in touch with the leading group with a 5-0 win at AFC Phoenix. On 4 minutesTy Macaskill ran through the Phoenix defenceto open the scoring, the same playerconverting a penalty after 16 minutes following a foul on Josh Parfitt. Parfitt himself scored the third, turning on the edge of the area to send his shot into the top left cornerafter 28 minute. A successful first half was brought to an end with a wind-assisted corner from Kurtis Bamford. Phoenix stemmed the flow of goals until the last few minutes when Parfitt struck the fifth from distance. The other two matches had more to do with the dogfight at the other end of the table. RHP Sports andWorksop Town Reserves played out an entertaining 3-3 draw. Worksop’s openinggoal prompted the question “where is VARwhen you need it? “regarding the ball and the goal line. The equaliser came on the stroke of half time, Ryan Attwood getting the last touch in a goalmouth scramble. The home side took the lead ten minutes into the second half with a fierce drive from Seb Headley which was cancelled out on 70 minutes by White. Attwood’s second looked as it might be the decider, but an own goal five minutes from time meant the points were shared. A big three points for Ollerton Town, who beat Glapwell with a 58th minute penalty put away by Keegan Burton.

The two Floodlit cup matches ended with scorelines that few might have predicted. Mickleover Athetic faced Mickleover FC reserves for the second time in just three days. Having beaten their opponents 11-2 in the league match some might have considered the cup game a mere formality. The reality was somewhat different, Athletic squeezing through to the next round. Theother tie brought together the top two in the Premier North Division, Dinnington Town having home advantage against Kinsley Boys. The hosts took the lead in the 23rd minute, Will Eades with the opener, Brad Kerr doubling the lead with 37 played.
