RICHARD LANE’S 2025/26 ROUND UP

Abacus Lighting Central Midlands Alliance round up for February 14th.

At last the sun shone out of a cloudless blue sky but unfortunately  it wasnt’ enough to save the matches in Premier Division South were rained off but thanks to artificial surfaces there were six in the Premier North, which produced the grand total of forty goals between them.Dinnington Town returned to the top of the table after a 4-1 win against AFC Bentley. They were quick off the mark Josh Bishop scoring in after justtwo minutes. Nathan Jessop and then a second on 15 minutes. Bentley pulled one back seven minutes after half time but were finally beaten by two goals in two minutes around the hour mark. Jessop scoring his second, Mason Barlow finally putting the game tobed. Kinsley Boys remain one point behind the leaders after a 6-2 win at Ollerton Town. The visitors built up an early lead, Brad Dockerty opening thescoring after 4 minutes, Rhys Hughes doubling the lead with 15 played, Dockerty getting his second 3 minutes later. Ollerton gave notice that they weren’t going to give up without a fight, Tom McNally pulling one back after 31 minutes, Joe Wilson getting a second four minutes later. Dockerty completed his hat trick 2 minutes before half time followed byKinsley’s fifth two minutes after the break scored byJack White who also completed the scoring just before the hour mark. Top scorers of the afternoon were Burngreave United. Two goals each fromMohammed Taher, Hassan Mohammed and UmarMohammed with one for Abdul Assad giving them a 7-1 win over AFC Phoenix whose scorer was George Walker. Elite AFC travelled to Newark to face RHP Sports who took an early lead through Seb Headleywhich was quickly equalised by Travis Gordon. Gordon’s second gave Elite a narrow half time lead,a spectacular free kick from Ryan Attwood levellingthings up again. Having a player advantage following a dubious first half red card, the visitors gradually pulled away, further goals from Tommy Pallett, Jacob Swales Bartek Chrobak and Jack Johnson completing a 6-2 win. Three valuable points for Glapwell as they beat bottom side Rossington Main reserves 4-2. Louis Wright was quick off the markfor Glapwell, putting them in front after 6 minutesfrom a free kick wide on the right, repeating the featfrom the identical spot in the 29th minute.  That’show it remained until the 72nd when Jack Ogley got one back for Rossington. Thoughts of a comeback were soon banished as Wright completed his hat trickfour minutes later, stoppage time efforts from JoshTurner for and Joe Parkin for Rossington having no effect on the final outcome. The reserve sides from Staveley MW and Worksop Town met at Inkersall Road, the home side completing a comfortable 4-1 win. Staveley’s scorers were Charlie Bingham, Alex Coates, Dan Gillies and Ollie Cooper, Josh Sinclair with Worksop’s consolation goal.

Central Midlands Alliance Premier Division Roundup for February 7th

There were three games played in midweek, one inthe Camper UK Premier North division  and two ties in the Abacus Lighting floodlit Cup. The league match featured Teversal and bottom of the table Rossington Main reserves. Teversal struck first, Alex Fereday putting them ahead in the 15th minute. Joe Storey equalised in the 37 minute but Rocco Hardyrestored the lead after 56 minutes  .The result wasstill in the balance until two goals in the last 15 minutes Dylan Thornley doubling the lead, Owen Ryan finally putting the game out of Rossington’s reach five minutes from time. The two Floodlit cup matches ended with scorelines that few might have predicted. Mickleover Athetic faced Mickleover FC reserves for the second time in just three days. Having beaten their opponents 11-2 in the league match some might have considered the cup game a mere formality. The reality was somewhat different, Athletic squeezing through to the next round. Theother tie brought together the top two in the Premier North Division, Dinnington Town having  home advantage against Kinsley Boys. The hosts took the lead in the 23rd minute, Will Eades with the opener, Brad Kerr doubling the lead with 37 played. Kerr gothis second just before the hour mark , leaving Jordan Turner, almost predictably, to have the final wordfive minutes from the end.

Saturday’s fixture list was etc, etc, etc, ( you can fill in the rest ).  The threeleague fixtures which went ahead were all on 4Gpitches. At the YMCA in Newark, RHP Sports took on high-flying Brodsworth Main in the Camper UK Premier North. The visitors took advantage of a defensive error to take a 7th minute lead through Callum Verhees.  Wayward shooting and resolutedefence from both teams kept the margin to a singlegoal until the 76th minute when Callum Stocktononce more put his name on the scoresheet.  The final few minutes almost brought the hosts an unexpectedshare of the points. First Jack Price converted an 88thminute penalty then a goalbound shot brought an excellent save from the visiting keeper beforeBrodsworth rubbed it in by forcing an own goal in the dying seconds, to complete a 3-1 win, which took them to the top of the table. In the South Division there was a big win for FC Sunnyhill who made it into the top six after completing an 8-0 win at Mickleover Reserves. Top scorer was Lewis Benjamin with four, Kaylan Anderson got two with Owen Slater and Kyle Symons also finding the net  It was much closer at Derby Racecourse whereHolbrook Sports beat Mickleover RBL by a single Brad Daly goal in the 23rd minute. Derby Singh Brothers advanced to round three of the Buckingham Insurance League Cup after a 2-0 win over BakewellTown. On target for the winners were Raza Mughal and Levi Hulme. Singhs travel to Linby Colliery in the next round. Selston made it to the quarter finals of the Notts Senior Trophy after a dramatic late win against former Central Midlands side Keyworth United. Selston took the lead in the final minute of the first half, Elliott Bland with the goal They held the lead until the 86th minute when their opponentsdrew level. With penalties looming, Jack Cockram hit a very late winner to send Selston to the quarterfinals of the competition.

It’s as you were at the top of the Premier NorthDivision with all of the top three teams takingmaximum points, all by four goal margins. Current leaders Dinnington town defeated Glapwell by four clear goals, the first from Tom Bishop after just two minutes, Jordan Turner adding a second just after the half hour. The visitors held out until the 69th minute when Turner knocked in his second beforecompleting his hat trick 8 minutes later, his fifth of the season. It was the same scoreline at Kinsley Boyswho entertained AFC Bentley and remain a point behind Dinnington with a game in hand. Again the home side were two up at half time, Lucas Stubbs opening the scoring in the 14th minute Jack White increasing the lead with half an hour played. Stubbs put the game to bed in the  56th minute before Cory McCombe notched his first goal for the club midway through the second half. Brodsworth Main Scored five but compensated for this by conceding one to their hosts at Ollerton Town. Clayton Cherowbrierset the ball rolling on 6 minutes, but the lead lasted for just 5 minutes before Rio Alberry brought Ollerton level. Cain Wellings restored Brodsworth’slead in the 21st minute, Callum Verhees puttingdaylight between the teams just before half time. Two goals in the final 10 minutes from Verhees and, almost inevitably, Callum Stockton set the seal on a result which keeps Brodsworth well in touch at the top. At the other end of the table RHP Sports pickedup three invaluable points, winning 2-0 at Rossington Main Reserves. Both goals came in the second half, the first from the penalty spot converted by Sol Miller, the second beautifully struck from 30 yards out by Seb Headley. Worksop Town Reserves came back from two goals down to record a narrow 3-2win against AFC Phoenix. The visitors scored twicein as many minutes shortly after the half time interval Chris Hopkins and Danny Fisher with the goals. Thefightback was sparked off by Kai Reet on the hour and completed by Josh Simpson  ten minutes later, again with two in two minutes                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            Richard Lane

Abacus Lighting Central Midlands Alliance Premier Division Roundup for January 24th

MIDWEEK

Three matches this week with two more AbacusLighting Floodlit Cup and a County Cup tie taking advantage of slightly better weather. Linby Colliery’s match with Borrowash Victoria might best described as abrasive with multiple free kicks. There were opportunities for both sides but none were accepted. Linby suffered a setback when they were reduced to ten men just before half time. A goalless first half was followed by an equally goalless second, the visitors’ man advantage hardly noticeable.Borrowash saw their first shot come back from the post, their third was saved leaving Linby to go through 4-2. Staveley Reserves’ progress was rather more smooth as the curse of the Team of Month struck Selston, who were presented with October’s award before the match. Perhaps the award should have been made The Trojans were 4-0 winners with Alex Coates and Sam Daviesputting them two up inside twenty minutes, Coates scoring again at the end of the first halfwith Josh Nicholls finishing things off five minutes into the second. Blidworth Welfare finally got their Notts FA Senior Trophy tie with AFC Warriors underway, easing into the quarter finals 5-0 with a goal apiece for Toby Birch, Aiden Reader, James Prentice and Henry Stevenson, an own goal making up the total.

WEEKEND

Friday night football might not be flavour of the month in Mickleover at the moment as both Athletic and FC Reserves lost out under the lights. Gresley Reserves consolidated their position in the top five with a 3-0 defeat ofbottom side Mickleover Reserves Evan Wynne, Davis Komney and Cam Briscoe doing the honours. Mickleover Athletic went down 3-1 at the hands of FC Sunnyhill, Lewis Benjamin scoring twice Adrian Ncube with the other one.

It was a very profitable afternoon for Graham Street Prims who sit seven points clear at the top of the Camper UK Premier South Division,. Prims were 2-1 winners against Linby Colliery, Alex Seale giving them a 26th minute lead, Blaize Duraku adding a second three minutes before the interval. Linby put their opponents under severe pressure in the second period but had to wait until the 80th minute to get a goal back through Charlie Tassell which proved to be too late to salvage a point. Meanwhile, next door,Borrowash Vics were facing a determined defensive display from Blidworth Welfare which kept their opponents at bay until five minutes into stoppage time, when as always happens there was a late goal. This time however it went the way of the team under the cosh, Henry Eastgate scoring in a swift breakaway which made a good afternoon even better for the neighbours. Another day to forget for Mansfield Hosiery Mills as they felt the full force of the division’s top scorers Melbourne Dynamo, who ran in nine against their hapless visitors. Star 0f the show was Haydn Simpkins who marked his debut with a hat trick. There were doubles for Regan Bickerton and Luke Campbell with Ben Gowing and Isaac Gosling also on the scoresheet. The Holbrook derby produced great entertainment and eight goals with St Michaelscoming out on top 5-3. Sports scored first, but found themselves two goals adrift before scoring a second just before the interval. The second half saw St Michaels retain the lead, Sports always in the hunt until the goal supply surpisingly dried up 25 minutes before the final whistle. The scorers for the winners were Richard Hanslow with two, Dan Kellogg, Joe Brumby and Anti Burmeister while Harry Chiarella, Paul Johnson and Ewan Barnes replying for Sports.

The Premier North Division programme was reduced to one match on Friday and two on Saturday. Dinnington Town returned to the top of the table after a 6-2 defeat of RHP Sports, avenging the result earlier in the season. The match was decided by half time by which time the visitors were four up. Cameron Evans struck first after 13 minutes, Jordan Turner, Nathan Jessop and Turner again bringing the tally to four by the 28th minute. RHP looked a different side in the second half, taking the game to the opposition. It was no surprise when Dan Kalu pulled a goal back in the 73rd minute and it was rather against the run of play that Turner completed a deserved hat trick and Sam Eckhardt scored in the last five minutes before Aiden Horner got a second for the hosts.Harworth Colliery won 5-1 at Phoenix as they pulled in one of their games in hand. Billy Stafford opened the scoring on 13 minutes, Danny Boulton following up with a second after 18. Phoenix passed up a chance to stay in contention by failing from the spot just beforethe break. They did find the net three minutes after the restart through Ash O’Brien, Boulton restoring the two goal lead on the hour. Yet again late goals made a huge difference to the appearance of the final scoreline as HarveySmith and Callum Edwards scored in the closing stages. Elite AFC and Burngreave United took a point each from a 1-1 draw, Umar Mohammed scoring for Burngreave, McKenzie Walker with the leveller for Elite .

A Jake dickinson goal was enough to send Mickleover RBL into the third round of the Buckingham Insurance League Cup at the expense of Cromford & Wirksworth Town.

Abacus Lighting Central Midlands Alliance Premier Division Roundup for January 17th

Two virtually blank weeks due to rain, snow and frost ushered in 2026. On the first Saturday of the year only two matches were played, both on 3G pitches. At Sandy Lane, Worksop Reserves had a 4-2 win against RHP Sports, the visitors’ eighth consecutive away league game. Sol Miller gave them a 27th minute lead, Ethan Slater bringing the Tigers level six minutes before the interval. Seb Headleyrestored RHP’s lead on the hour but it took less than 60 seconds for Will Bates to level the scores again. With six minutes left Alex Russell put the hosts ahead for the first time and as the visitors pushed forward in search of a point they were hit on the break, a 92nd own goal finally settling the outcome.Wirksworth Ivanhoe moved their match with Gresley Reserves to Sleetmoor, the change of venue rewarded by a 4-3 win. Gresley led 2-1 at half time Ben Mann and Fintan Dampier with the goals. Thesecond half belonged to Wirksworth who took the points thanks to a double from Ewan Sutherill and one each for Jack Higton and Lucas Brough withdebutant Evan Wynne scoring Gresley’s third.                                                                                                           Frost was the big winner on the 10th the only game surviving resulting in a 6-0 win for BurngreaveUnited over Ollerton Town, Umar Mohammed with ahat trick, Mohammed Taher adding two and Abdul Asad one.

Yesterday finally saw some football played, the Camper UK Premier North of seeing the majority of the action. At the top, four of the leading five took maximum points with Kinsley Boys maintaining their two point advantage after a straightforward 5-0win over RHP Sports. Kinsley built up a four goallead by half time, Jack White opening the scoring on 9 minutes, Adam Wilson adding a second six minutes later, White getting his second midwaythrough the half. Lucas Stubbs made it four in the final minute of the half before White completed his hat trick on 73 minutes with the only goal of the second half Dinnington Town got off to the perfectstart as they faced AFC Phoenix, whose preparationfor the match couldn’t have been worse. Their manager gave his notice an hour before kick off and several players disappeared, former manager Daz Newson deserving great credit for stepping up to steady the ship and ensure the game went ahead.Tom Bishop tucked away a first minute penalty, before Jordan Turner made it two with only nine minutes on the clock. Phoenix managed to weather the storm, the hosts adding one more to their total, Nathan Jessop completing a 3-0 win in the 68thminute. Third placed Brodsworth Main’s trip to Rossington Main Reserves was a lot closer than a look at the table might suggest. The first half ended goalless, both keepers pulling off fine saves. The match sprang into life on 62 minutes, Liam Williams giving Brodsworth the lead. Joe Parkin equalising three minutes later. The visitors were then reduced to ten men, but still came out on top thanks to thealmost guaranteed Callum Stockton goal, this onecoming in the 71st minute.                                                                                         Burngreave Unitedcompleted a quickfire double over Ollerton Town, with last Saturday’s six goal haul followed by a 4-0 win at Walesby Lane. With the first half in its final minute the deadlock was finally broken, HassanMohammed scoring from the penalty spot. The three goals in the second half included one from sub Mohammed Tafer and a Umar Mohammed double, the first of which was outstanding, a swift turn on the edge of the penalty area wrongfooting the covering defenders, the resulting shot going in off the upright.Glapwell’s habit of conceding early goals looks tohave been cured and replaced by one for conceding late goals. Just as it looked as if they were going to add a valuable point to their account, SJR Worksop pinched all three in the dying minutes.  Luke Tonge put SJR in front in the 53rd minute, Jacob Lally levelling midway through the half. It all went wrong for Glapwell as full time approached, Taylor Thackery heading home in the 89th minute while Scott Wesley’s third came a minute into stoppage time.

Attempts to play outstanding County Cup ties yetagain restricted Premier South matches to three. Gresley Reserves drew 1-1 with Holbrook Sportswho went in front on 52 minutes through Ewan Barnes, Tyler Cox equalising with 65 on the clock.Cromford & Wirksworth Town were 2-1 winnersagainst Mickleover Athletic, Joe Geeson’s penalty put Cromford in front after 25 minutes. Jordan Watts doubled the advantage with 56 minutes played. Although Jamie Laird pulled one back in the 74thminute but the home side held on to take the points. Two teams at the foot of the table met on the artificial pitch at Clay Cross, Bakewell and Mickleover Reserves taking a point each from a 3-3 draw. The only goal in the first half saw Bakewell take the lead through Tom Robe on the stroke of half time, Shujah Ali levelling the scores immediately after the interval. After Bakewell lost their keeper through injury, Mickleover took advantage, Samuel Otisi with a goal which James Handley immediately countered. Edward Watts gave Mickleover the leadagain after 74 minutes but Bakewell had the last word as Rob Littlewood got a late equaliser.

The Derbyshire Divisional Cup South final will be contested by Melbourne Dynamo and Derby Singh Brothers. Khaliq Shaffique scored both goals forSingh Brothers that knocked out FC Sunnyhill 2-0, while Melbourne eliminated Holbrook St Michaels3-2 with Ollie Grimshaw, Ben Gowing and Jake Peverley sharing the goals. Rowsley 86 fell just shortin the Divisional Cup North, going out on penaltiesafter a 1-1 draw with Hayfield. Holders of the Notts FA Senior Trophy, Linby Colliery made it to the quarter finals, Ewan Gibson scoring the only goal of their clash with Awsworth Villa.
